Syttende Mai (May 17th) Parade - Ballard WA - ~May 17, 2008.

The Buhunds help Celebrate Norwegian Independence Day in  Ballard!   The 17th of May honors Norway's Constitution Day (Grunnlovsdagen) and is an official national holiday there.  It celebrates the day in 1814 when Norway's new constitution was signed and Norway gained independence from Denmark.  The first Syttende Mai was celebrated in Ballard in 1889.

The parade is the highlight of the festivities. Many participants march in regional folk dress from all parts of Norway. or on all fours. Norwegian sweaters abound, Norwegian flags are waved everywhere, and more Buhunds than I've ever seen gathered before in one place, (including Kaare and Sophie) wow'ed the crowds.  It was great fun to meet all the other Bu's and their pet humans, even if I couldn't tell the Bu's apart.

Waiting to start.  (?, ?, Freya, Darby)

A Pack of Buhunds   At the parade.
